La Costa Sur Excursion

We head west from the highlands into the Retalhuleu region, exploring the lush mountainous terrain before dropping down to the Pacific coast at Champerico. From there, we hug the stunning Pacific shoreline, cruising through colorful local towns and savoring some of the best ceviche in Central America.

We’ll stop in the bustling port town of San José for a full day of sport fishing on the Pacific. From there, we hug the stunning Pacific shoreline, stopping in the relaxed beach town of Monterrico, home to its famous black-sand beaches. Before making a dash across the border into El Salvador for lunch.

On the return leg, we climb back toward Antigua, making a memorable stop in Esquipulas to visit the famous Basilica of the Black Christ — one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Central America.
